Conformal coating

at one point in time i was thinking about going TEC, but then i decided to just stay with plain watercooling. While researching TEC i noticed that they apply a layer of conformal coating to their board to help protect against condensation.
So woudl this be a good idea to apply to the board as a second layer of defense to my watercooling setup in case of a liquid disaster?
 
there is a lot of masking to do before your apply conformal coating. it's time consuming to do the job right.

applying conformal coating also voids your warrenty.

if your do your board, you should also do your add-in cards, with still more masking involved to do that.

having said all of that, besides the warrenty, the conformal coating won't hurt anything if properly applied and will provide an added level of protection from small leaks. smear the pins and sockets with dielectric grease to finish the job.
 
yeah big waste of time in my opinion... Just leak test before powering up anything.
