When I start up my computer I'm sometimes forced to press the power button multiple times just to get it to boot into windows and once it does its rock solid so is this a power supply problem or something else?

note: specs are in sig

If you are talking about the power button on the front of the case... well, it's probably the button its self. From what you said, I Don't think its the power supply.

well I did forget to mention that it does startup briefly and then shuts down 1-2 seconds later so its not the powerbutton.

@Toireht: Yeah atm mine is just a case power supply or just not a very good one so when I get some moolah I'll spend the $120 aud on a new power supply.

Best case scenario: Your PSU isn't broken... Just not able to provide enough power for startup (since most devices, especially hard drives, draw more current than during normal operation).

Worst case scenario: Your PSU is borked.

If you're going to replace it, what do you have the rest of your system?

I had this problem to and It lasted for about 2months and then my PSU just went dead. Mine was an Antec Smart Power 500w, curious what yours was.

I ended up having to order a new one, which just came in today.

Couple people seem to be having this problem:

My Antec truepower dose this when it gets unplugged for a long period of time. I have to hit the switch a couple times or rock the switch in the back a couple time to get it to kick.
