This seems like it would be fairly straightforward. I have Comcast cable internet. I use DynDns to deal with the dynamic IP. However, internally I have my Windows XP machine setup with a static IP.
IP: 192.168.1.101
SubnetMast: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (router)
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.1 (again router)
I was told this was the best way to do this given that ISP's change their DNSes from time to time and this is better than manually entering the ISP's DNSes. However, usually a couple of times a day, I won't be able to connect to particular domains, specifically yahoo.com and fantasysports.yahoo.com. I believe this has to be a DNS issue, because another computer than is set to acquire IP, DNS from the router's DHCP works fine.
Any ideas on this?
