Configuration problems or broken speakers?

i've got a set of the inspire 6.1 speakers from creative, and for the life of me i can't get any channels but the front left and right to work. they used to work fine, but for a while they just refuse to cooperate with me. I've tried them with my A7N8X's onboard audio, a soundblaster live 5.1 and i just bought an Audigy 2 ZX to try to solve the problem. None of them will work. I"ve checked all the connections and played around with all kinds of settings, but so far nothing has worked. Am i making some stupid mistake or should i just buy new speakers?
 
are they connected digitally or analogly? what test program are you using?
 
analog connection. i'm not really using a test program. when i was using the onboard audio, i used the nvidia program that came with the drivers. I just try using winamp, windows media player, divx player, etc. to see if i can get any sound out of the speakers.
 
Try hooking up your rear speakers to the front channel output of a working soundcard. Do they make noise? If not, it seems more likely that they could be broken.

I just tried what you suggested and couldn't coax a peep from the rear speakers. Looks like they are broken. Thanks for the help.
