Concerned about upgrading motherboards

I will be replacing the Soyo motherboard in my signature with the Asus P4P800SE. I am keeping everything else (the ram, cpu, and heatsink).

Is there anything I should watch out for when undergoing this surgery? I'm using Arctic Silver currently. Is it recommend that I scrape it off and buy a new bottle of the Arctic Silver or can I simply reuse it?

Please advise.
 
i can't speak for the motherboard, i hear its good, but as far as arctic silver goes.. get a tube and reapply it.. you should be able to use a tube several times.. some people actually reapply it every few months just to do it.. so i would definitely redo it instead of trying to reuse it..
 
If you are running your hard drive in raid0 then your array will probably not survive the transfer.
Will you want to reinstall Windozes after the change or do you want to keep running the insall you have now.
If you're keeping it read this this thread.

Thank you for your reply. Be 'redoing' it would you recommend scrapping off the old arctic silver?

I will be reinstalling the OS. Nothing on there anyways since its a brand new HDD. Thanks!

clean it off pretty well, you probably don't need to go to the extreme of using alcohol and a q-tip but that is one method.. make sure there is no dust, or residue left behind though because that could hinder the transfer of the heat to the heatsink..
