Concerned About It Fitting...

Well, I have the money now, so I want to go with water cooling (typical noob of me). Although, my only problem is that I have a small case (Super Lanboy). I've picked out the following components, and I would like to know if I have any chances of them fitting into my case. Can I make upgrades to these components or should I stay with what I have and hope they fit?

The Pump
Danger Den video card cooler
The CPU Cooler
Black Ice Extreme Radiator
The Reservoir

Remember, my main concern is space, is there any possible way that I can get these components to fit into a super lanboy? The only cutting i'll do is on the exhaust fan, and thats it. Do I even have to dremel? And is it possible that I can get 1/2" tubing? Thanks.

Thanks in advance you guys.

you can get a swiftec Radbox and put the radiator on the outside of the case to save room and improve cooling.

i THINK that it is do-able. i have a full thermoelectric system packed into my lian-li PC 6077 mid-tower.

i would say that the res should be the first thing to go, if you really want to fit everything into that lanboy. you can make or buy a fill and bleed assembly to save some space. not perfect, but when space is limited.....................

you would probably be happier, as i would have been, if you just gave up on making it all fit into a mid-tower case, and picked up some ugly old server case for cheap to do this in.

Hmmm, that would require some cutting then :). See, on the back of the Super Lanboy, the fan grill is honeycombed and rasied. So that would probably mess things up, or does that not really affect anything at all?

the fan grill might or might not be a problem.

since you are not big on the cutting, i assume that you plan on having the rad inside the case?

if so, the grill is not LIKELY do cause any trouble, just the lack of space.

you have at least a snowball's chance in hell of making this work. any more than that, who cans say? it will take a lot of work on your part, if you are determined to make this happen.

tin snips, a drill and an old server case remain my suggested tools for this job.

This is a Super Lanboy...I just put it in today!

not the best place for the rad, but i can see how that one would be hard to mount elsewhere.

it would be a VERY good idea to replace that NB cooler as soon as you can. those tiny fans die pretty quickly, and the the high case temps having that rad where it is will give you, a failed chipset fan could get your machine unstable quickly.

is that an early release NF7-S with the black ram slots? rev 2.0? if so, nice score and happy overclocking.

I've had the board for over a year now with no problems with the chipset cooler

It is indeed a 2.0 NFS-S, black ram slots. Thanks! I think it's especially nice considering the fact that it's not the "good" stepping.. AFQYA or whatever, which supposedly don't have as good of a chance.

I was running the memory at SPD when it was air cooled, I've had the ram stable up to 250Mhz @ 2.5-3-3-8 so I'm gonna try that once I get the WC stuff going!

I originally wanted to put a 120mm fan in the top of the case, with the radiator bolted to it fit in the 2nd 5.25" bay, but the radiator is just too wide to fit in there without hacking up the 5.25" bays, and I don't want to do that.

I'm still going to put a 120mm fan up there, and the radiator will be push-pull with a fan on each side.

Wow, I have no intentions of getting rid of my precious side ways hard drive mounts, lol. As neat as that is. I have a better idea, I'll draw it in paint and poste a picture later when I get the time to do it though.

Mmkay, here's the drawing I made of how I think I could get it to fit, the only thing that concerns me as of now, is if the radiator will interfere with any other things.

I believe it goes Res > Rad > CPU > Pump > Video Card. The order would most likely change, this is just a quick sketch. Think I could make it fit with the components I want?

Yeah, I don't know how thick the BIX is. My heatercore is 2" thick and wider than an optical drive.

Also consider that you will need to add 28 or 35mm for a fan, plus some space between the two because of your fan shroud.

I've shown a fan as well as a radiator =). And I am not getting a fan shroud... I don't think its necessary.

I know, I saw the image :) What I meant is when you look in your case, you may want to measure how far out it will stick to make sure it won't obstruct lines to or from the waterblock on your cpu

I've measured already, I have a feeling it won't interrupt, although I also hope that the barbs on the cpu waterblock are on the right and not the left side =). If worst comes to worst (which I hope it won't), i'll dremel out the honeycomb fan grill then i'll externally mount the fan. I highly doubt i'll have to do that though. One last question, 1/2" or 3/8", lol.

the're kinda in the middle but you can place the waterblock either direction

I think I might go 1/2 inch Tygon. I am gonna need about 5 feet to do this project you think? I am gonna work that out right now...

2feet, 7" 7" 5". So about 5 feet of tygon 1/2" should do it.

Nah, i'll go 3/8" tygon tubing like you. It looks thick enough to handle the job obviously. Maybe I think that 3/8" is that crap that Koolance uses, I know its not, Koolance has like 5mm tubing or something like that.

I'd get 10 or 15. With the tight fit in the case, it is likely you will use it all considering the fact that you have a reservoir.
