Computex: ATI + Havok = ??

i GUESS this fits best into the video card forum, but maybe general hardware might work better....

anywho! Computex 2006! cool stuff! but i have a question for the people at ATI and Havok... or just an avid computer guru hanging around on Hard forum.

They showed us that on a Conroe mobo (with 3 pci-e 16X slots... hehehe..... no sound card :(), and what i would asume is an Intel platform with Crossfire technology, you could run two X1900XT's in crossfire with an additional X1600 < GPU for physics. cool :D. and obviosly this wont really hit the market for a year or so. but what on this system is hot swappable? can I use say an Nvidia Nforce 590 with SLI and an X1600 PRO for physics? Can i use an Xpress 3200 with a single X1900XT for rendering and an X1600 PRO for physics? Does it have to be Conroe on an Intel Chipset?

just a few questions....
 
Exactly what I was thinking...can I simply add a X1600 (like $110 or so) to my sys with an SLi motherboard and X1900xtx to get physics.

My hope is yes, but, since my motherboard sucks, I may move to an ATi board anyway somewhere down the road.
 
Another question...will I be able to use a single slot X1600 ona lesser PCI-e slot while using crosssfire on the x16 slots on a normal 3200 crossfire board?
 
It actually fits best in the PPU forum - cos that's what it's about :p

Actually it dosn't I have come to realize.
This forum is for PPU's...not GPU's doing eye-candy...

Terra - Neither ATI's nor HavokFX topics belong in this forum....
 
its not really physics... its just realistic eye candy... but anyhow...

its Havoc FX so it works on any shader model 2 (if I understand correct) so either a GeForce 7x or Radeon x1k should be able to do it. Both ATI and nVidia have approved their lesser cards will work with their better cards to do dedicated eye candy physics. I suppose it technically may be possible to use an ati and a nvidia with one used for physics, but it would probubly be unstable as the drivers are not designed to mingle...

this is old news people... ati just pointed out that you CAN use it with crossfire...

u can use two x1900's one to render, one to do eye candy. or two GeForce 7800's..

or as someone asked, a 1900 for rendering and a 1600 for eye candy.

I am personallly thinking of getting two X1600 PRO's just to tinker between crossfire and eye candy physics.
