Hiya, is there anywhere where I can find plane and simple workstations for a large network of 300 computers. Also I am looking for server with monitor and the rest of it. And NT 2000 operating system which I can install on the computers and server

not going to find much here i don't think. I would check with local computer shops if you want to have some clones build. If you want an industry name. The company i work has been selling HP bsuiness PC with 3.06Ghz cpu's and xp pro for under 1K. Which may sound like a lot but its not for a bsuiness grade machine. few hundred less than Dell. As for a server we would need to know what your planning on using it for. what are your requirements.

Jesus, don't get clones, whatever you do. Not so much because the machines will suck, though there is a much greater risk of that if you don't go with a big direct company, but because of the support. Hardware fails and you want a good suppoort system in place, whether it's technical support or sending parts or you sending them the machine and having a quick turn around. Clones are fine for a few machines. For 300, going big is the only choice IMO. I've sold and supported clones to jobs that big on the insistance of the customer. Big mistake, every single time. Just a nightmare. Anyway, we are a dell shop and while you may here complaints about their consumer support their business support is stellar. Also, I guess your just in love with 2K workstation and it's a fairly competant OS however your better off going XP SP2. Much better in fact IMO.

As mentioned, the server suggestion would come after more information about what you intend to do with it.
 
Intentions/Purpose?

At this point and time I would say go Server 2003 for the server OS and XP-SP2 for the workstation OS. NT4 is dead and 2000 is heading that direction.

As for where to aquire the boxes?

Dell.com - talk to their business consultants and ask about Enterprise Gold Support with 4-hour parts turn-around if you buy systems from them. In a medium to large business environment, reliability and good service comes before the fifty dollars you /might/ save per system in going clone. Furthermore, go with the Optiplex platform instead of the Dimension - they are meant as business systems and the platform changes considerably less often than the consumer line.
