Ok my computer isn't really on fire but....

I just built this computer and got it working today. The temps on this thing are high everything is kinda hot to the touch too so I know it's not the thermal diodes. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k220/jordan172005/untitled.jpg Here is a pic of speedfan showing the high temps. Also I have a Athlon XP 2200+ on my MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard and it's saying it's a duron but I'm running the stock 266mhz fsb. Anyone help me with anything. All help is appreciated. Thank You

MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
1gb PC2700 Nanya
2x 40gb Maxtor 7200rpm
Thermaltake Volcano 6cu CPU HSF
Nvidia Riva TNT2 32mb ( temporary )

uhhh I thats all the main specs.

LOL 40GB Maxtors...that reminds me of my file server. x10 40GB Maxtors...all salavaged from early 2000-2001 HPs Pavilions.

well for <$150 you can't expect much. Any help with the temps? righ tnow I have a full size floor fan that you get from the dollar store sitting beside the computer on high to keep it cool.

Did you put CPU thermal paste on the core before putting on the heatsink? *nervous laugh*

I'm running an XP2600+ under 100% cpu load and my temps are ~50c. The only temp that looks bad is HD0.

Yes I put AS5 on it. This is not my first time building a pc. and that pic of my processor was not a load pic I was idling in windows.

Any ideas of why everything is running hot? the 2hdd's I don't think should be running at these temps my western digital wd800jb hdd only ran like 35-36c. I don't know anything about this athlon... what is stock volts? stock multiplier? and stock FSB?

50°C isn't much to worry about, some AthlonXPs are always going to run hot. Remember that they're rated to >95°C.

I would be somewhat concerned about the HDD temperatures. Should the 64C reading be accurate, you are likely to experience a sub-standard lifetime. Can you check the temperature with you hand (carefully, since 64C is pretty hot).

I did feel the hdd's and they were pretty warm. My case is some off brand thing and does have a spot where I could put a fan in front of hdd's but I just haven't done it yet.

Well I guess now we know where your mind has been. lol

I think I'll just keep my big fan sitting beside this thing. keeps everything in my computer in low 30's.

It'll also push more dust in. Be sure to clean it often. Yah, you need that front intake fan.

Also that pic of temps was taken with the side off too. Anyway does anyone know why it says I have a AMD Duron in here? It is an Athlon XP 2200+
