Hi Guys,

Two days ago I had a prefectly good, working computer with water cooling. I wanted to switch to air, so i got a new case and a Zalman heatsink/fan. I moved everything over and now when i turn on the computer, two things happen - there is absolutely no video output, and the computer shuts off after about 7 seconds.

Here's a run down of my troubleshooting:

1. Reseasted the heatsink with fresh arctic silver after cleaning the heatsink and fan, all according to arctic silvers instructions on their site.

2. Removed all drives.

3. Switched the power supply.

4. Took out both sticks of ram one at a time to test each.

5. Reseated the video card.

Nothing works. I'm quite annoyed because everything worked perfectly fine before moving the parts.

Some specs are:
K8N Neo Platinum
Athlon 64 3200 clawhammer
9800pro
530w power supply

...please help me!!

Well if you arent getting any beeps, its probably the mother board or the processor :(
you could try taking every thing out of the case and see if it runs out on a table or some thing?

Yeah, no beeps. What annoys me is that it was working perfectly fine before i moved it.

I'll try moving out of the case soon, but if anyone has any other advice, please let me know.

I just tried it outside of the case. Didnt work.

I currently have the power supply plugged in and both connectors connected to the motherboard. I also have my heatsink fan connected to the motherboard. This is all sitting on anti static packaging. This produces the same result.

I find it very hard to beleive that my mobo/cpu is damaged, as there is nothing i know of that could have caused it.

Any advice at this point? Please?

You could try disconnecting the new CPU fan from the mobo and see if it boots. There could be a short in the new fan connector that is shorting out the fan header and perventing the board from doing anything. Don't worry, the CPU won't overheat when you're just in the BIOS, even without the fan spinning.

EDIT-I just realized that you said it does turn on but only for 7 seconds. It that case I doubt it's a short in the fan header, but try it anyway.

Take if off that bag, believe it or not but an anti static bag can actually short a motherboard.
