Not too great with computer hardware, just an FYI before I tell you about the problem. :p

First off, specs?
Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHz
512MB RAM(Not sure what brand??)
GeForce4 Ti 4200
SB Audigy Audio

Don't know what kind of motherboard I have, but I'm sure it's an ASUS.

THE PROBLEM---

When I try to boot the computer, nothing happens. Everything is plugged in, everything is OK from what I can see. A little green light on the motherboard is on, when the computer is plugged into an outlet. This has happened to me before, I had a friend look at it and he installed a new motherboard, that seemed to fix it. I had this computer built for me about 2 years ago, and since my friend and I opened the case, fiddled around with it.. warrenty no longer applies. :(

Do any fans come on at all? Power supply fan? Do you get anything at all on the computer screen when it starts...? Or does it just sit there when you press the power button? The switch on the back of the power supply is in the on position, correct (stupid question, I know :p )?

No fans start up, not the power supply fan. Nothing on the computer screen. Power supply switch is on. :p

Hmm... Are you sure that the power button on the front is hooked up to the correct pins on the motherboard? Also, you might check to see if anything is shorting out anything on the back of the motherboard (and make sure it's mounted to the motherboard tray using some kind of standoffs to keep it from touching the motherboard tray).

... Just a few ideas *shrugs*

I'll double check those tomorrow.

Another question is whether or not you are grounding the motherboard in the case.

Where are you trying to boot this system on? Electrical conductivity is important in this business, ya know.

The computer is on my desk where it has been for a few months.

Also, everything is connected, nothing shorted out. I'm about to break down a call a computer tech at a local store. :(
