I just put together a new computer and got everything installed smoothly, but ran into this problem.

Every time i try to shut down, it restarts itself automatically.
Every time it starts up, i have to press f1 to continue, and then it loads normally.

Anyone have a fast fix for this?

I'm using a msi k9nu neo-v, and i'm trying to update bios (never did this before)
is there a way to do it without a floppy drive?

it sounds to me like you put the power jumper thing in the restart slot. are you sure you connected it to the mobo in the right spot? or wait, do you mean in windows it doesnt shut down, or are you pressing the power button?

anyone have an idea how to fix?

There should be an item in the BIOS setup that relates to "report errors on keyboard and mouse". Set it to "keyboard only" or "none".
