Computer wont reformat!?

The computer in my sig has been running like junk, my anti virus has expired and well like i said my computers been crappin the bed. I feel quite dumb asking how to reformat my computer when i made it....But i have tried using the WD disks.....it will let me reformat my 160gb hd, but it wont let me reformat my 80gb hd which has the OS. Now ive tried to just pop in the windows XP(ive tried with two different CD's) and i come up with the same error message-

"Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD."
Is there any way to work around this error message and proceed on reinstalling the WinXP?

....At this point i dont really care how i wipe my HD, so if anyone has any suggestions i am all ears.

DBAN or Autoclave to wipe with 0's the hard disk, both freeware and included on UBCD :D

Yea a friend told me to use DBAN, i did, and when i booted my computer up and it prompted me, i tried to type autonuke, and my keyboard would not work. I tried 2 other keyboards with no sucess. Im thinking about throwing my computer out the window...
 
Sounds like you are trying to run the setup in windows(?). You should be able to manage partitions/format reguardless of version by booting up to the windows CD. OldMX's suggestion of starting with a nice clean wipe is not a bad idea though :)

You may want to unhook any other hdds besides what you want to become C: during the setup also.
 
yea like i said i tried to wipe my hd but it wouldnt work..... Is there any other clean sweep programs out there?
