Computer won't post :(

I just put together a new rig and I can't get it to post. I tried alot of thing already. I already checked the jumper settings and disconnected some stuff to try to make it boot but It won't still after all this time. Should I reseat the processor or what? Thats the only thing I've been suggested. please helppppppppppp!!!

Take out the RAM and see if the mobo beeps.

Take out the mobo, cpu, ram, video card, and hsf and test them.

Take off the mobo and put it back in the case...could be shorting.

Ok I got really scared because I reseated the processor and it wouldn't even turn on. But after messing with it for a couple of minutes it got power and it turns on but yet it doesn't want to post after all this . I took out the ram,sound,hdds and the video card and it still won't post. I could feel the heat on the HSF so that means the CPU can't be busted right? If it was short circuted it would mean it wouldn't even turn on or create any kind of heat? I think Imma go to frys first thing tommorow and return the mobo or get it tested at least.

go ahead and have the mobo tested if u want, it's not unheard of to get a DOA motherboard.

but do as gwai lo suggested and take out each major component one by one untill it will post.

Ok went to frys today and returned both cpu and mobo. I sorta burnt the mobo last night :X but the cpu was also not workign when they tested it this morning. Ok I tested all my other componets in another computer and they work fine. HDD,vid,sound, and ram all work. I got a brand new combo of the same kind but yet its still giving me the same error. It will not post, I don't know if its my power supply or something because I have a 420watt Turbolink and it powered my old amd machine that had 6 fans and 4 drives and it never gave me any problems. I tried to make the new one post under just 2 fans (HSF fans) and 1 hdd and it still will not post. I don't know what else to try. This crappy mobo doesn't come with jumpers for teh FSB just for the cmos. Could it be that the mobo isn't grounded? or something?? I don't know I'm willing to try anything at this point I really need some halp

More specifics:

Is it making ANY sound at all. Any beeps? What can you hear spinning?

Be 100% POSITIVE that you have the mobo spacers in place properly, else you're killing it.

what are the mobo spacers? And no I hear no beeps from the motherboard.

Well I used to have a mobo on the risers and that mobo worked fine all along. Now that I try to put this P4 in place it won't boot. I put screws on all the spacers and all of the motherboard. I keep thinking it won't boot because my psu might not be strong enough. I have an Antec 350watt but the one I have in the p4 is a 420watt from Turbo link. Should I try the Antec? or will it not make a difference?

btw the processor is a 3.0E Prescott

Ok I just switched psu's and yet NOTHING NOTHING at all. no post or nothing

put the motherboard on a table.. not a metal one of course.. but wood, or a newspaper.. then connect just the cpu, heatsink, ram, video and the psu.. that is the bare minimum for it to post.. then see it it will post.. if it does start adding components until it won't post anymore..

if tat doesn't work, tell us

also the antec psu should be fine...

I took the combo to frys and they got it to post and boot. I got it home and yet no post. Nope no post. So I'm tired of trying so i put my old rig together with my amd "Ole faithful" AMD never lets me down . But thanks for all the help guys I come from this experiance alot smarter in computer building but I didn't get the result I wanted but I still learned alot. Thanks again.
