Alright, well I just woke up and my computer was on a blinking line (I was previously in the log out screen when I went to sleep.) I do not know how this happened, someone MAY have went on my computer but im not 100% sure..

What happens is when I start my computer I get my lanparty logo, and then this screen pops up for a second and then it just goes to a screen where at the top left a line is blinking horizontially..

All I can do is go into the set up, but I dont know much about that.. I loaded the optimized defaults and it did nothing

Please help

Thanks

CHeck my Ram for what? If it is in tightly? Or what?

BTW - Just incase there is a mix up my womp was working fine and all of a sudden just happen :/

Hmm, alright so I tried movin my RAM around and got different results:

First time I tried moving one of them, it loaded my comp up in safe mode, but when I tried to log in it said my password was wrong (and I know for sure i was doing it right, and caps lock was off)

Next I tried moving it in a different part and before it got to the windows loading screen it would restart

then I tried another and I got to the regular login screen like it was working, and when I went to log in it froze on "loading personal settings"

now i tried the last time, and after the windows load screen (i think it popped up), it just shows my pointer mouse and the error:

THe application failed to inalize Properly (0xc0000005)

On the top left of the box it said "lsass.exe"

ahhhh

Have you tried booting into "safe mode" or "last know good". If you have it "failsafe defaults" would be a better choice than "optimized defaults". At least until you get it working.

What is it?
Local Security Authentication Server - lsass.exe

What does it do?
lsass.exe - It generates the process responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service. This process is performed by using authentication packages such as the default Msgina.dll. If authentication is successful, Lsass generates the user's access token, which is used to launch the initial shell. Other processes that the user initiates inherit this token.

lsass.exe information

That file could be corrupted or you may be infected with something thats messed it up.

To rule out a RAM problem download memtest and run it from a floppy. If you want to check your hard drive for errors you should be able to download a utility from the drive makers site that will give it a good going over. If that file is messed up you could boot from your XP CD and do a repair. I think you could also boot to the recovery console and extract that file. I'm not sure how you do that , I've only heard people say it can be done. ;)

hmm.. ok so I just tried it again on the same placement as when the error came up and everything loaded fine.. but I logged on and everything and it was really slow

i tried loading firefox and nothin happened, i just clicked the buttona nd ya.. so i like opened my computer and it loaded, then I clicked firefox again and then left. When i got back the screen had nothing on it but my background and i couldnt press anything :/

Not that I know of

I logged off like i do everynight and when i woke up it was messed up

only thing different that i did last night that i havent in a long time is i played Counter Strike Source.. And not just the fact that its CSS, it was the first like newer type game ive played in a while.. Maybe it could have been it got my comp too hot? i Dunno

alright.. so now when i try and load it, it just goes to that black screen after the windows loading and wont even try to go into the login part.. lol

[Edit]: Thanks for the link, ill read it now ;D

If you are infected with something you are going to have to do a repair just to get back into windows. Hope it works and that your anti-virus works so you can scan your system. If you do have defective ram you will likely get numerous errors when you try to repair windows.

Alright.. Umm, how can I load the windows disk?

When i put it in nothing happens, it just loads like norma... now it goes to the load screen but there is a error and restarts in like 5 seconds

Dont i have to press something for it to load by disk or w/e? I tried pressing f5, but that didnt work

Then i tried pressing f5-f12 like at once over and over lol and nothin came up again :/

thx for all the help so far

XP Repair install

Boot the computer using the XP CD.
You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive.
Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.
Do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console).
I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair.
Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.
Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears.
Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

hmmm.. alright..

So ya, i tried doin that.. and I kept gettin a lot of files that werent gettin through, but a lot of other files were makin it through so i was just goin it with

it got to about 90% and i got this error.. blue screen and it says

"BAD_POOL_CALLER" and then I restart it

ahhhh more and more crap keeps messin up :/

Haha ya.. maybe a bit of both because I went to try it again and it said C drive corrupt.. then again i tried it (the repair thing btw) and it was sstuck at 50%

ill try some more tomorrow, but tips welcome

hopefully i wont need to get a new harddrive or formatting this last one or w/e.. had no back up whats soever.. >.>

Hmm, so Im guessing it is my memory.. I am currently running memtest (how long do these usually take, mines been going for an hour) and have more than 1,000,000 errors :/

any idea how this just randomly happened?

:(

You can stop the test at any time. With 1,000,000+ errors not much sense in continuing, it's broke. Why it broke, hard to say, it happens, nothings perfect. Was it just the one memory module?

Hmm, alright, i dont think it is my ram..

so i got another hard drive from one of my old comps and I hooked it up as my primary and had my main one as the secondary, and like i loaded my comp and it loaded fine and my harddrive is there and everything, but it wont gimme access to the owner files (prob because of the password or w/e..)

so.. is there anyway I can get on those files?
and like.. im thinkin more and more that it is a virus, so is there a way I can fix it on that harddrive i cant really access? lol
and is there a way i can get on system restore for that harddrive or something?

thanks a lot :/

Thanks.. I saved most of the stuff I wanted to then I formated and reinstalled..

That worked fine, and everything is OK, cept i still got some problems:

1. I can only use one of my RAM sticks, guess it just messed up or somethin
2. Programs just randomly shut down
3. seems to be running sluggish :/

im guessing all the problems have to be b/c of the ram, anyway to see this other than memtest? because memtest just runs forever and I get like millions of errors :/

[Edit] lol.. just restarted on its own

I'm gonna say this as nicely as possible. Are you freakin retarded?

I told you 2 times, and many others have told you, but I will say it once more. Maybe it will sink in this time:

IT'S YOUR RAM!!!!!

You described all of the symptoms of bad RAM. I told you it was your RAM. Others have told you it was your RAM. You are even saying it is your RAM.

[quote Zeyne]memtest just runs forever and I get like millions of errors :/

If that does not answer your question without a doubt, then you need go back on AOL and quit wasting our time.
