Yesterday i was working on my friends computer, i was cleaning all the dust out and cleaning up the cables and cleaning the koolance. I put everything back together right and pluged it in and i didnt get anything on the screen and there was no beep from the motherboard but the memory lights where on. i turned off the computer and let it sit and waited for the memory lights to go off then i turned it on and the memory lights didnt go on and there was still no beep from the motherboard i know im getting power to the mobo because the mobo lights are on. I tried it one more time and the motherboard started to give me long beeps about 5 or 6 of them. The type of motherboard is an abit nf7-s

What is going on here?

computer specs:
2600+ Barton // Abit nf7-s // ATI 9800XT // 1g Corsair xms pro // 500watt enermax // koolance water cool // 80gb and 40 gb hard drives

Did it post fine before you cleaned it? Is it possible that coolant from the exos could have leaked onto the mb? Did you try resetting the bios?

it was running when i picked it up from his house. We made sure not to get the koolance onto the mobo. How can we reset the bios when it doesnt load? It only gives us power it doesnt book, we know the hard drives are working because we can hear them.

if there isn't a reset jumper, you can remove the cmos battery for a second and then plug it back in. That should reset them to factory defaults. Also, make sure you have good contact with the processor from the waterblock. Did you use a thermal compound between the WB and the CPU? If not, I'd recomend it...

Some friend you are! ;) Really though, make sure you unplug the PSU before you reset the CMOS. Sometimes it won't clear if you're still plugged in.

My first question is, how did you remove the dust?
compressed air, yes i made sure to keep it up straight so it wouldnt get the condensation on any of the hardware

i didnt take off the processor, and yes it did have thermalcompound on it.
