I just finished putting togetther a new comp with a soyo dragon kt600 mobo and corsair 400mhz ram and a athlon xp 2800+

when i try to boot up it gives me a black screen for 10 seconds and then shutsdown...what can be the problem? can it be the RAM?

Try to boot it without the ram. Beep at all?

If you have more than 1 stick of ram, try with each one in the first slot. (Dimm 0)

If your board is dual channel, make sure you have the ram matched up properly.

Check for additional power plugins on the motherboard - maybe you just missed one. (I've done that)

Re-seat the motherboard in the case. A couple times its been one screw that threw off the board and kept the machine from working at all for me.

Re-seat the CPU and heatsink (Not always a good option, considering some cooling measures like paste (rare) or Arctic silver)
