Computer won't boot with USB Hub

I'm having a bit of an odd issue that I've never encountered before. I have a media center computer with a crap load of external harddrives hooked up to it. A few are plugged in directly to the computer but a few go through a powered usb hub. When that USB hub is plugged in I cannot start the computer. Before I even touch anything when the computer is off the front LED lights are on (power supply not running). When I turn it on it boots and gets to the ASUS logo and just doesn't go anywhere from there. If I unplug the usb hub it works perfectly but then all my drives could possibly be renamed and that requires days of reindexing. Any ideas?

I've recently had similar problem with a keyboard with usb hub. Turning "USB Legacy support" option on in BIOS solved the problem.
