Computer won't boot with Soundcard!

Hello, guys I have a weird problem. I have a Waveterminal 192L Sound Card and when I install it in my motherboard an ASUS M4N68T-M motherboard. The PC locks up and won't boot. It's quite strange, I hit tab when I saw the Bios Screen and noticed the last thing it hung at was Checking NVRAM, however it also just went to the windows logo and Froze. It is quite a strange problem and I'm not sure whats wrong removing the sound card causes all the problems to disapear and it boots fine. Any ideas?

In case anyone, is wondering its sorta Urget because I have this trial for this music software that I am having Latency problems with, so I am trying to see if using this sound card would help.

Also, I tried to look though all the bios settings but couldn't find anything. Might have missed something but I went though the manual several times.
 
Have you tested the card in another slot on your motherboard, as well as in another machine?
 
Well there are four slots on this motherboard. The PCi-e x16 slot is taken up by my HD5450 GFX Card, one of them is a PCI x1 which the card doesn't fix into. Leaving me with two PCI slot does it really matter which one I use? I don't want to break another pci plate out if I don't have too.

And no I have not tested in another Machine.

The PCI slot can matter. More to the point, it can't hurt to try.

Are you overclocking or doing anything that might upset the PCI timings?

It shouldn't matter normally. But you need to eliminate the possibility of either a bad PCI slot in your motherboard or a bad soundcard. I don't have experience with your brand of card, but when inserting a card causes POST to fail, first thing to check for is a hardware failure or problem.

Another thing to try, is disabling any on motherboard sudio hardware in the BIOS.
 
OK I tried a different PCI slot, still won't boot. I tried disabling the onboard audio, and Tried Changing the only option for PCI in the bios and still didn't work.
 
Just pulled another PC out, won't boot there either. I am assuming that means its toast? What could have happened, Static Damage, and I know everything is sensitive to Static, but are Sound Cards especially sensitive, or not?
 
I'd call tech support for the company who made the card. I'd guess a bad card, but I'd honestly be guessing as I have no immediate knowledge of that card or brand of card.
 
OK, I will try to Email them. I don't want to even think about the phone charges calling this number +44 1280 847525 ,

It is supposed to be to be a very good sound card, apparently DJ use them becuase of there great sound quality and rewire support, you can set the card using a onboard switch to route the output back in so that you can record Audio. And a used one just sold for $160 on ebay so they have to be somewhat good.

Does anyone know of another number for this company thats the only one I could find on there website?

Sound card are not more sensitive than other cards.

Heck I worked at a PC repair place in the early 2000s, the only hardware we DIDN'T static bag was the sound cards (we never had enough static bags). The sound cards were just sitting in a box and we would grab one as needed. I rebuilt/fixed numerous PCs and never encountered a single bad sound card coming out of that box. Meanwhile it felt like GPUs all had a 25% chance of dying in the first 24 hours after we pulled one out of storage :(

Hey, Thanks for the reply, That's what I thought, mine were sitting it a box as well.

I am going to take a look at it under a Magnifier when I get a Second and see if another Card might have scraped a trace.

Nobody, knows of an another number for this company other than the one in the post above, it is the only one I could find on their website?

That card is over a decade old, recycle it and move on.
 
I know but they still sell for around ~$160 but if nothing turns up it will be going to my scrap pile.
 
There's no reason to throw away a 10 year old sound card. The new ones don't really do anything new. Hope you can make it work.
