computer won't boot up, reboots.

this is the strangest problem I've ever seen.

I was upgrading a friends computer (charity work, no profit). It was an old peoplepc ibm.

here's what I purchased from newegg etc:
p4 2.4 celery
gigabyte GA-8IG1000Pro-G motherboard
2*256 corsair pc3200
WD 80gig HD
onboard video, sound etc.

everytime I boot up, it restarts right before windowxp loading screen appears.

so, I tried booting from cd to reinstall windows and it reboots on the first screen "now inspecting your hardware"

I've tried 3 power supplies, 2 cpu's, 3 videocards, and every bios setting I can think of. I even tried another motherboard (abit is10) and had the same results.

now, I tried booting from scsi HD and it runs fine.

any ideas??

I had this trouble before, and found it to be my hardrive. Funny thing was it checked out good in the WD mfg tests.

Check to see if there a screw loose somewhere.
