Alrighty, computer powers on - but does not display or post or anything, and there is a single beep that repeats itself over and over and over and over.. =P

This began to happen after I tore the system apart to clean up the dust and just simply reorganize the cables etc..

I've tried different video cards, changed the cmos batter, reseated everything..
The system had 3x sticks of 256 ram, and I have tried every combination of sorts to see what worked, but still nothing goes.

Same error code is given when no RAM is tried at all, so I am guessing there is an issue there.. but all 3 sticks going bad at the same time? Makes me think that the mobo died or something, but I certainly hope not since money = none.

Unfortunently my second computer uses SDRAM so I cannot test the ram on another machine, but it still stands - 3 sticks bad?

Anyone have any ideas or what? Might just be a sign to upgrade and get an A64, mobo, and new ram..

Did you try one stick at a time? Also make sure CPU is seated, and AGP card is seated. Could be with all that "Cleaning" that you did you accidentally touched something and gave it a shock and then *bzzzy* it's dead. It doesn't even have to be a shock you can feel, since I read somewhere that the amount of static electricity that will kill sensitive computer components is just a fraction of the amount of static electricty required for the human body to feel it.

Well, good luck with that then. I've seen issues where the AGP card is in at a slight angle, and since the card has two rows of contacts, the lower row of contacts on the card is touching the upper row of contacts on the AGP slot. Just a thought.

Going to try a PCI video card right now and see if that makes any difference at all.. but other than that I have tried everything.. so looks like a new motherboard or any other suggestions?

-Try your monitor on another pc to make sure it's not dead.
-Look in the documentation for your mobo, there will be post codes in it. If you can't find it there or don't have the book, look on the manufactures website. You will find it there.

If it makes the same sound even without the ram that leads me to belive you shorted your mobo from static elec. And as posted above, no it doesn't take much static and you normally never even feel it, ANY static can short pc components if you are not GROUNDED. Tearing apart/cleaning/installing/building/handling ANY pc component while you are not grounded = bad mojo, and gives way to killing any component you touch.

Personal thoughts are, your mobo just screwed the pooch. Can you RMA it?

Cheers.

Yeah, all hardware works.. I've tried it on this current machine that I'm on right now, except for the RAM I guess..

Pretty sure I cannot RMA the mobo, it was from newegg - but it has been like 1-2 years or so..

Guess I can just get an el cheapo for now, then it is time to save my money for the A64 that I want...

Well what kind of mobo is it, as i know that most have at least a one year warr.
Also, log into newegg, i belive it gives you a list of everything you have ever purchased from them (as long as you haven't deleted it) so you know how long it's been exactly.

Well if you were to buy a 64 now, i would say go with a 754 soc (meaning you just can't wait), but if you are going to wait a while longer save for a 939. As a 754 is going to be worthless for longevity.

Cheers.
