I want to xfer my old HD currently running windows vista into my new computer and install windows 7 64bit. Is this as easy as just switching over to the new computer? What would I have to do to make this transition an easy one, aside from formatting?

If all you want to do is transfer the hard drive itself and not the OS installed on that drive, just format the drive and install Windows 7. That's it.
Why that CPU and what that motherboard? Just as a CYA measure, what RAM are you reusing? I ask because that CPU and motherboard combo is probably one of the weirdest combos I've seen yet.

What video card are you using?
 
Did you mean to select the 2600K? 2600 plain has a locked multiplier and would be a waste for that motherboard.

Actually, the CPU/mobo combo that you originally posted is the one that was weird: The P67 (and Z68) both allow high overclocks - but the plain, non-K i7-2600 that you originally posted is only limited-overclockable; the maximum CPU speed that you will attain from that i7-2600 non-K would have been only 3.9GHz with all four cores in use to 4.2GHz with only one core in use. Those maximums are hardly worthwhile enough to fully utilize the capabilities of either the P67 or the Z68 chipset. Plus, the LGA 1155 platform does not like their BCLK to be raised much (if at all): Instability can set in with a BCLK raised as little as 4MHz above the stock 100MHz.

Hmm....you should be able to hook up the drive, don't boot from it but boot from the DVD, and then install the OS that way.

A bit overpriced considering that 8GB of that RAM is less than $50.

Pretty much what E4g1e said. That and unless you're doing a ton of overclocking (hence the motherboard) or a ton of video/3D/audio editing/rendering, the i7 2600 and i7 2600K aren't a good buy.
