Computer takes forever to turn off

Hi there. Well, the title pretty much speaks for itself. I'll do the usual start and shutdown dealyo, but it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to turn off. The CPU light isn't flashing or anything and no programs are turning off. I've done a virus scan, I used Ad-Aware, but nothing seems to help. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
