Computer speakers and an X-Box.

I'm planning on getting a set of speakers, eyeing the Logitech Z-640s, but I'm wondering if it's possible to have my PC and an X-Box hooked up at the same time, or is it going to be necessary to get a switch box? Cause if it is then I'd rather invest in nicer speakers with the money I'd have to spend on the extra equipment.
 
The Z-640's only have a single connection for audio on the back of the center channel. This cable breaks out to a 3 1/8" cables that go to left, right and center. Your computer can handle these connections, but the xbox cannot.

The HD Pack and the Advanced AV Pack support stereo via RCA cables, or optical 5.1. The z-640's do have a stereo input box that takes the front 1/8" cable (green) and can output to both 1/8" and to rca. You can get a splitter to put the front speakers on both your computer and on your xbox, but you would only get stereo out of the speakers to the xbox.

I suggest going with a higher end set of speakers that has at least 2 outputs, and one of those must be optical to get 5.1 out of the xbox.
 
You can use any PC speakers you wish with the Xbox provided you buy the Klipsch or Creative decoder box. They have all the inputs you need to get the job done.
 
Thanks for the replies, let me see if I can narrow this down.

The reason I was looking at the Z-640s was because I'm not going to be able to use the speakers that much anyway. I live with two other people, and I work nights, so when I'm off I'm pretty much using my Sennheisers. So dropping $200+ on a set of speakers, much as I would like too, wouldn't be great because the amount of time I could use them would be pretty small. Same thing goes for buying a set of cheap speakers and getting a decoder.

I've ordered an Audigy 2 ZS, though I doubt I could route the X-Box audio through that.

Originally I was looking at a set of Altec Lansing FX6021s, but they're pretty expensive, plus it'd be just left/right inputs, and from what I've read they sound just "okay". I've also been running into talk about how Altec Lansing speakers hiss a lot, which would be a big problem since the computer is going to be about 8 feet from my bed.

So if my best bet is going to be getting splitters, I can do that. Is there a way to directly connect headphones to the X-Box (Sorry I haven't gotten this yet either, heh, getting damn near everything all together)? I guess that could be done via a 2 RCA -> female 3.5mm plug, right?
