Computer Shuts-Off Randomly

I have the computer in my sig, just recently have the problem where it will turn off completely at random times. Sometimes it will not even boot to Windows (will shut down during POST or while loading the OS). Usually it will do it during a game (like CS:GO). Other times it will work fine for hours at a time (I'm using it now). If it was only this I would think the power supply was borked, but there are other problems.

Additionally, some USB devices will not work either. For example the keyboard will not "come to life" until the PC has been on for 30 minutes to an hour, but the mouse will always work. Strangely the keyboard always works in the BIOS but then when it gets to Windows it will stop working temporarily. My USB hard-drive is also missing. So this leads me to think the motherboard is at fault.

Ok, so any idea what the issue could be? I am leaning toward just buying a replacement mobo and new power supply. But could it be something else?

I think I tracked this down to a faulty USB controller (I think the PCI expansion I had). I removed all USB plugs from the expansion and the added a powered USB hub directly to the motherboard. Since then I have not had any shut-downs.

I would start with your USB controller as well, since you've already have this unusual observation. So try updating your USB controller driver and do visual check the capacitors of your components.

Good luck.
