Ok so i have my computer up and running (P4 2.4C, 512MB Corsair PC3700, IC7 mobo, 60GB Wester Digital HD, Radeon 9700pro, and a 520 watt PSU). I prime95ed and memtested my system for around 16 hours each, and it runs real stable. However when i sandra test my CPU and ram it shows my CPU running at around 30% of what it should be at and my ram at 20%, this really concerns me. I can tell it when i play games and run certain programs that its running slower than it should. The bios shows everything running at the right speeds and everything posts fine, but windows takes around 15-20 minutes to boot, i was suggested to format but the problem is i clean formatted 3 times already with the same problems every time.

If anyone has any advice ill take it, im really stumped on this one.

I don't think tweaks will help a 15 minute boot on a p2.4 with 512mb of ram. I'd say there are bigger issues at hand.

Spyware/adware in a bad way? One of the friendly virii wandering around? If you have formatted recently, if you went online without a firewall you quite possibly got hammered by every worm out there within minutes.

Blaster can ping some 3,000 computers a minute- on slow dialup, +80,000 on any kind of decent broadband. Given a few thousand infected computers, there's millions of IP's scanned a minute by blaster... and that's just blaster.

So... adaware, spybot and if you've not already got one, grab AVG anti-virus.

Well I dont have any anti virus software only ad-aware for adware and spybot search and destroy for spybots. Nothing really hardcore. But its not even like i was cruising the internet after i formatted and formatted and then it was slow as soon as id boot into windows. but i will get the anti virus software you recommended.

Bump. So no one knows what the problem is with this? Seriosuly i need some help here.

Honestly, how are we going to know what the problem is without sitting in front of it? Your just going to have to start playing around with it, checking connections, settings, etc, and maybe even swapping parts.

Sounds to me like a hardware incompatibility.

Sandra is showing the proper CPU speed? Sandra is shwoing the proper amount of memory?

Do you have any other cards in your machine that could be conflicting with your other hardware? Examples would be:

-USB 2.0 card
-Video Capture card
-Modem
-Inetrnal ADSL/Cable Modem
-Extra PCI Parallel port(s)

...if the proper drivers have not been loaded for these, it can really mess up your system.

Also, check and make sure you have installed all the chipset drivers (for things like IDE controllers, AGP, USB, etc) from your motherboard or chipset manufacturer.

Last but not lease, check for errors in your hardware configuration... will show up as a little yellow exclimation point or red x, depending on what is going on.

There are other things you can do, such as selective start-up to see if there are some mis-behaving programs starting with the windows load causing the issues... but lets not go there before you tackle these.

Good luck!

Check the FSB settings, make sure they are what they should be. If they are, well.... you've got a bit of a lemon computer, i'm afraid. That system just shouldn't do that.

hmm, if you had bothered to read what the first reply said, you'd have been amazed at the fact that THE FIRST GUIDE (UNDER "TWEAKS") DEALS WITH YOUR REPLY ABOUT SPYWARE/ADWARE

now go read The Tweak Guide.
