when i try and capture vids with fraps my comp just slows - no matter what settings im using. The games actaully play and record slow in playback as the whole comp is just going slow. Any ideas?

NO SHIT!

heh seriously though, thing about what is all going on with your computer. A game is running PLUS you are writting a freak load of data to the HD and taking a lot CPU time,. And all that=slowage

It could be extra slow on your computer because, maybe your HD is slow, or its not defrag regularly, or you CPU is too slow, or maybe you dont have enough ram to do that stuff.

and its ALWAYS a good idea to RTFM:

hmmm...so perhaps an extra 512 stick might help? Was planning to get one for future games anyway :p

Extra RAM wouldn't help much because as Deviationer already said, you're dealing with a freak load of data that's not simply being stored and accessed, but created and saved all at the same time. To see significant gains you would probobly need to upgrade your processor, hdd, and yes, RAM.

Well, im just thinking that FarCry pretty much maxes out my computer anyway with the ram i have, so another stick should give it more room, which would make the vid have full HD access instead of sharing it with the game?

Right Click and Save target As - this is what i get now
