i need help my computer once in a while will randomly shutdown and sometimes also after manually shutting down my computer it will suddenly power on by itself after a couple of mins. i heard it could be a power supply or memory problem im not sure though how to pinpoint the exact problem. is there like a tool or program that i can use to troubleshoot the problem? i have an hp pavillion a6000n that i upgraded with a 750W PSU and evga 8800 gts 640. my last resort is to bring it to a pc technician so any help would be great. thank you

Sounds like a HEAT issue. Check your Temps of both the CPU and Chassis. Make sure to check them while the computer has been running for awhile.

I don't think its a memory issue, bad RAM wont kill the power and it will almost always prevent the PC from booting. If you have more than one DIMM you could try removing one, testing the PC and then trying the other, but I doubt this is your problem.

One final cause could be a bad Motherboard, specifically the capacitors on the MB which hold an electrical charge. These are the long cylinders on the MB that look like AA batteries. If the tops are blown upwards or have scorching marks, your problem is there.

As for the autostartup, check the BIOS setting make sure the Wake on LAN or other autostart up options are not enabled.

Unplug the network RG45 cable just to be sure. If that doesn't do it you might be having an PSU problem. Are you sure the PSU is of correct Wattage for your components and that it is functioning correctly?.

is there a program to monitor my cpu and chasis temperature? im only using rivatuner to monitor my 8800 gts w/c idles around 45.
