Computer Randomly Shuts Off

My brothers computer is water cooled and I can list all of his specs here if needed, but basically what happened was his computer was running fine, then when we hooked it up for him back at school it will run for a few minutes, then just turn off. I mean it doesn't reboot or freeze, it just completely shuts off. Now I know the first thing that comes to mind is heat issues, but the temperatures are never abnormal when it shuts down. Any ideas would definitely be appreciated as we're running out of ideas over here, thanks.

did you try checking all the video card, memory and cpu still intact and not loose during the transportation? or try a different psu?

Check the connectors, check the VGA heatsink. Make sure the pump is running.

start with the psu, might have got hit with a nice dose of static on the move.

I’ve run into silly stuff like this before and it looks like everyone here is on the right track.

I would take everything out of the machine, RAM, VidCard etc and unplug all plugs including the main power plug.

Use air and clean blow all the dust away and reassemble.

One mis-seated part can do it and drive you nuts.

Is he running Windows 2000?

If so, and he just moved it to a place unprotected by a firewall, he's probably getting nailed by the new worm making the rounds. There are more technical overviews out there, but here's one from CNN with a relevant line:

Symptoms include the repeated shutdown and rebooting of a computer.
Edit: Just realized, if he's in a college dorm environment, no firewall will protect him as some knuckle-head will always have a compromised system somewhere on that network. :D

Thanks for the feedback guys.

He's actually running WindowsXP and we're in an apartment on our own internet, so it's doubtful on the worm bug.

Still getting pretty weird results. Have run it on different outlets and at times it acts like it's going to run all night, but then inevitably always shuts off. Though it does run longer on some outlets than others, have no idea if that means anything, but my computer has run fine on the same outlets that are giving him fits.

We recently refilled the fluid as it was running low and thought that may be an issue, but it's still dying. Even hooked it up to a battery backup strip, still a no go. Something maybe gone wrong with the water cooling? The power supply in it was running fine in another computer, then fine in his when we switched it before moving back, so one would think it wouldn't be the issue, but we'll give it a go trying another PSU once I can get my hands on one. Any more help would be appreciated, thanks again guys.
