Alllright

Just put together my first comp, I've got a SATA WD6400AAKS and a SH-S203B DVD drive in there with a Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L. I boot it up, and check the bios to make sure the CD is set to boot up first and it says

Boot from CD/DVD :

Disk book failure insert system disk and press enter.

Since I just put this together, do I have to change something in the Bios settings? Does both the drives being solely SATA have to do with this? Or does this mean it's not booting something in the CD drive.. as in I should install an OS?

Thanks

You need to check the boot order. If the hdd is set for 2nd, then it will display that msg, So set the boot order to the cd/dvd drive as 1st and the hdd as 2nd.

May also have to set the sata controller to native or IDE until the drivers are installed

If theres no OS on your hard drive and not a bootable in your DVD drive then that message is correct.
Your computer has reached the end of the POST sequence and has no instructions on what to do next.
You need to install an OS on the hard drive.

If theres an OS on the hard drive or a bootable CD/DVD in the drive, then the bios is not reading the drives correctly.
You may have to set the drives in native modr.

Luck ........... :D
