I have a Dell Dimension 2400 2.4 GHZ, 512 MB DDR RAM. I just bought a New Hard Drive (Western Digital 160 GB) and a Video Card (Geforce FX 5200 256 MB DDR PCI) and I am having a few problems

1. Whenever I boot up it tells me my primary drive 1 cannot be found, then I press F1 and it loads like normal.

2. My video card won't display. I installed the drivers and after I install, it tells me the Device won't start or something and there is a problem with the install. Sometimes it freezes during the driver install. Also someone told me I have to flash the bios then set the primary video card to PCI or something, but I don't even have a Floppy Drive to do that. Is there a way to do it without the floppy?

1. if your using the new drive as a slave, set the jumpers on it according to what it says. Also you may need to set the jumpers on your Master HDD.

2. Go into bios and change the video setting from onboard to PCI. There should be a option for it. You do not have to flash any bios to install a video card.

In the BIOS all it says is Onboard and Auto for video. When it goes on Auto, I don't get video out of either of the outputs, unless I physically take out the card.

It looks like your Dell has onboard integrated video that cannot be disabled at all.

Or maybe you have to move a jumper that may be unlabeled or cryptically labeled in order to disable the onboard video?

Hmm A jumper? Where would that be located on the Mobo?

Update your bios. This is for the 2400 not the 2400C.

Have you tried going into your Device Manager and uninstalling teh Intel Extreme Graphics and rebooting with the 5200 in it?

I fixed the problem. I now am running video through the card, and my hard drive doesn't give me the message anymore. Thanks everyone!
