The other day i tried starting my computer and it went to a screen where it asked me if i wanted to boot in safe mode and all that and whatever i choose it goes to the blue screen of death and it says "unmountable boot drive" *** does that mean???? please help!!!!I have no clue what i did but its probably that i got a new hd the other day and i put it in but never really messed with it and then yesterday i went in bios and made the first boot device HD 1 instead of HD 0 thats when all this happened, i changed the boot device back to 0 and it still did the same thing. help me!

On another forum i go to, it was said that i need to make a boot disk, but i dont have a floppy drive so i dont know how i could do that. Another thing is that my friends dad told me to load the fail safe defaults in bios a few minutes ago and that did no help either.

If you can help please contact me on AIM or just post, thanks!!

Take the new drive out of your system and try and boot.
Hopefully that should work.

If not post your system and which Windozes you are useing.

Luck.......:D

Well, the computer has been working with the new drive in there, but the drive wasnt working which is why i changed the boot device to hd 1 or whatever and then the problems started...

I am running xp pro

2 wd 40gb hds, 712 mb crucial pc2700 ram, amd 2400+, epox mobo, geforce 4 ti4200 64mb vid card...anything else u need to know?

What are the jumpers set to on both drives.
Are they on the same channel.

Did both drives show up in the bios.

Edit. If they showed up did they show up in Computer management/ disk management

Luck.......:D

One of the drives is set on what it was when i bought it (first one) and the new one is set for slave and yea both showed up.

Just disconnect the new drive and try and reboot.

If you still cannot get into Windozes then.....
In the bios put the cd-rom as first boot device and the HDD0 as second.
Put your copy of XP in your cd-rom drive and reboot.

When it asks just reinstall over the top of your copy of XP.
This will hopefully repair your MBR without changeing any of your settings.

When you get a working copy of XP running then switch off and connect your new drive.
Reboot.
Right click on My Computer and go to Manage.
Go to Storage -> Disk management and you should be able to format the drive from there so that it will work.

Luck.........:D
