Hey guys,
My friends computer has a problem. My friend is new to building computers and he tore his computer apart and put it together and now when he boots it up it beeps and there is no display. Any ideas?
Friends System Specs
amd 1600+
512 pc2100
motherboard- not sure get back to ya on this.
vid card unknown get back with these specs to.

If you guys have any ideas and any trouble shooting options I am open for ideas.
Thanks EpicOfChaos

First, he should make sure that he has plugged in the square secondary power connector to the mobo (if applicable) and plugged power into the vid card (if applicable). After that, he should pull the RAM and see if the beep code changes.

The first step to troubleshooting this if the solution is not a quick one, is finding out what he can do that will at least change the problems he's having.

what do(es) the beep(s) sound like

continuous? short and continuous? etc...

Make sure the sticks of ram are fully seated and in the correct orientation too. It's happened. ;) Also, make sure he remembered thermal paste between the heatsink and CPU, that the cpu is correctly seated, and that there is good contact being made between the cpu and HS.

Reseating the vid card and Ram and all PCI cards would be my first step. After that, I would be sure to plug in one device at a time to see if there was a hardware issue. Like start with the VGA card first and work up from there.

The beep is continous it never stops. and I pulled all cards and ram and nothing the dianositic lights are red green red red
the only problem is I don't have a manual for that mobo.
Thanks Brody
