Hey guys, I just purchased a bunch of new gear for a computer and I'm having some problems. I just got an Athlon 64 3000+ mobile DTR processor cooled by a Thermalright SLK 938-u w/ Vantec stealth 92mm fan, 1gb Centon pc3200 Samsung TCCD ram, DFI nforce3 250gb, BFG 6800OC, and a 450w Aerocool PSU.

With this set-up I'm having a big problem. When I go to turn on the computer the motherboard just beeps at me, one long continuous beep, and everything I've tried has been unsuccesful to change that. I don't believe it's ram related as trying different combos on the ram didn't change the beeping, even no ram was the same result. I'm thinking that it is the processor, maybe there isn't enough contact with the processor and HSF? I used the back bracket that came w/ the thermalright put some thermal compound between them and there seems to be pretty tight contact w/ the cpu, but I'm not sure. Could it possible be the bios itself? I heard some bios do have problems with the athlon 64 mobile dtr processors....

This sound like anything you guys have heard of? I'm pretty positive that the problem isn't from jumpers or forgetting to plug in anything, I pretty much have exhausted how many times I've check to see if it was plugged in wrong.
 
try taking the battery out with the jumper on BIOS to the reset pins for like 10 mins or a lil longer.

Try testing the ram in another computer to see if it really works.

Pull the processor out and see if any pins are bent, just wondering :rolleyes:

get all the PCI cards off the board and only have your video card on, the hard drive, cpu, heatsink and ram. Nothing else is needed. Just to test.

If it still doesnt work, pull the board off the mobo plate and run it on your mobo box taht it came in.
 
I looked at the manual that came with the MB.

One long continous beep is a dram problem. Put the ram in a different systm and run memtest to see if you ram is bad, if not I would suggest RMAing the board.
 
There may be another solution. If that chip (forgive me I am on my first AMD rig) has an on die memory controller like mine.

I experienced the same issue , intermitantly and upped the v-core from1.5 to 1.5125 and bang all was hunky dori
