Today, i set up my computer. I plugged the power to my computer and monitor in first, it then booted up, i made a mistake as i wanted it to boot up after everything was plugged in, mouse keyboard etc.... So i put it back on the holder of the tower and then it just goes off, because of a loose wire in the back. So then, i plug everything in and then boot it up again, it goes to the menu which says please wait but then an error comes up saying "The computer has encountered an error, press ok and restart the installation". The problem now is that the mouse and keyboard do not respond, they are packard bell wireless. I then shut it down by holding the button and switched it back on, the connect button started flashing and when i moved the mouse and pressed the buttons on the keyboard it flashed signalling they were connecting. However, after the "microsoft coporation" screen with the bars the signal stops and nothing flashes on the connect button, then the menu with the error comes up and i have no choice but to restart and inevitably face that problem again with no mouse and keyboard moving and just having to stare at an error all day. Please, does anyone have a suggestion.
 
I would try a wired usb mouse/keyboard and see if that does anything...technically just the keyboard should work fine.
 
yea...some wireless stuff doesn't work in the POST environment until you set it to do so [some older ones actually expect PS/2 mice & keyboards until you turn on USB options in the BIOS]
 
Also, i think this should go in the general hardware thread....not sure why you put it here...
