Ok I am sitting here with my uncle's computer (I built) and it's no longer posting. It's about 5 months old and the specs are:
Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
Abit NF7 Mobo
ASUS Geforce 4 Ti4200 8x
512mb Geil RAM

My younger cousin (13 year old gotta download everything) did quite a number on it by funkin it up with spyware. I even made it clear to use Firefox and run Adaware and Spybot regularly. So basically I turn the computer on and it just never sends the signal to the monitor to turn on, the monitor just sits there in "sleep" mode. I've tried it with their LCD monitor and my CRT, no good. The video card has the (pardon for not knowing the names) white DVI connectors which I would guess are for LCD monitors. It came with the adapters so you can plug in the standard blue ones, which both of the monitors I used had. Any ideas?
 
Well, your cousin might've allowed in a virus that corrupted the bios. But I'd say thoughroly check the inside, including looking at the cpu core, all over the mobo, back of the video card, etc. And try clearing the cmos if you havent already.
 
:D ask him if he or she kicked the pc. might have moved something out of place

Try the onboard. :)
 
Im having the same problem with my Barton 2500+ on A7N8X deluxe.

No postbeep at all, and no signal to monitor.

I found a way to get mine to boot though.

If i take out the ram and start the pc it starts beeping because theres no ram, i then shut it down again, insert the ram, and then it posts and works :rolleyes:

As soon as i turn off the pc i have to do that all over again to make it boot :rolleyes:

Id like a solution to the problem too, although i can get mine to boot it would be nice to shut it off when im not using it, right now its on 24 hours a day :p
 
try reseating the CPU.. also try turning the comp on withouth CPU inserted - if you won't get any beeps this means that the mobo might be dead... did you try different vid card? PCI if you have one...
 
Tried an GF4 MX440 I had in my room and that worked. Switched back to the Ti4200 and it works. This computer is weird..... Thanks for the input though guys. Now to run Adaware and Spybot.
