Okay my friend's computer has been recently restarting everytime he opens to many programs, or starts a game like cs, d2, wc3 etc...

His system:

Athlon XP 2000+
RAdeon 9000 Pro
256mb RAM
Win XP

I told him that he probably needs more RAM cuz 256 aint gonna cut it...
Im thinkin about reformatting it to see if that might solve it....but I doubt it...
The only thing is that he has had his comp for like 2-3 years and he didn't have any problems before.
He recently had his mobo replaced... so I dont think that is the issue..

Any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance

That sounds like a heat issue to me. Try taking off a side panel and pointing a house fan on it. If that doesn't solve the problem, the power supply could be going bad also. Swap that out if you have another one to try. Good luck to ya.

Thx for all the help, from what he is telling me (btw this is over aol) its starting to sound like a heat issue

Open the case and aim a 120v house fan at it. It's not a 100% test for heat, since a cock-eyed HSF will still overheat, but it's a start. The machine should at least stay up longer. Other than that run memtest86 as suggested as more programs=more memory useage which increase the chance for memory error to show their ugly head.
