Computer keeps freezing

I built the computer recently and installed windows and everything, computer has froze 5-6 times in past 2 days, have no idea why, I havent even put a dent in it yet with anything but it's frozen 3-4 times today alone with Lineage 2 and twice outside of it. No idea what it is, not sure if its a graphical error or what.
Also sometimes when I reboot I get my desktop but no icons or bar, so I have to reboot again for it to show up.
Systerm doesnt feel hot or anything so my guess isnt anything is overheating but I could be wrong. Here's the stats:
MSI KT600 Mobo
3200+ xp amd pro
9800 sapphire pro vid card
2x 256 ddr 400 memory sticks
200gb Hard drive
Windows xp

If anyone has any idea's lemme know. Thanks

I am assuming the motherboard drivers have been installed just after the windows install.

I am assuming the machine is not overclocked and all timings are set to auto or SPD.

you should be able to check the cpu temp in the bios. it should be less than 40C.

I would suggest as a start you uninstall the video card drivers, reboot and then install the drivers that came with the video card CD. If this solves your problem you can then look at installing a newer version.

If you have overclocked, turn everything back to default/normal speeds until you have a stable system,

I might of fixxed the issue, dont know if it was the drivers or not but I uninstalled, rebooted. installed drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/ then rebooted, havent had a lock up yet, crossing my fingers.
 
Had the same issue with my 9800 Sapphire card...try giving the card a molex connector NOT shared on the same channel with anything else...that was the only way I found to cure it up.

I have second set of connectors hooked up to graphics card so that isnt the issue.
I'm thinking it MIGHT be my speakers seeing how I got this sound, like a record skipping, like a lag spike or something when I was playing music. This computer shouldnt be lagging from music or a game like Lineage 2. It's still continueing to freeze...How would I go about fixing it IF indeed it was my speakers? Buy new ones? Its a good set 5 speaker system, new and a new Santa Cruz 5.1 sound card in.
