i've had nothing but trouble so far with this build. its making me regret going the i7 route

system includes:

i7 920
asrock x58 deluxe
4gb ocz obsidian ram
evga gtx260
600w ocz stealthxstrem psu

little more than a month ago i moved the computer downstairs to the upstairs. i plugged it in and sparks and smoke came out of the video card. :( Got a replacement and tested the psu in another old crappy box just to make sure it wasnt going to fry up anything else. everything worked fine but a few days later i noticed a clicking sound coming from the psu. replaced that bad boy too.

NOW all of a sudden the damn thing turns on and just randomly shuts off. not reboot, but actual power off. and it does this at random times. there is no consistant pattern. sometimes it will load all the way into windows. sometimes it wont.

the absolute worst part is who knows what damage the original electrical problem caused. and its not like i have extras of these new types of parts layin around to test.

i been out of town this whole week. any ideas before i can finally get home and really take a look at it?

if you have already replaced the video card and power supply, the ram and/or motherboard could be damaged.

edit: check the temps to see if anything is running too hot. are all the fans spinning?

temps was the frist thing i thought. but when it stays on long enough to check temps in the bios it reads normally a cool 34C.

testing the mobo is gonna be a pita.

as far as memory the only way for me to test is to try one stick at a time. i dont have any extra ddr3 laying around. however newegg does have a tiny 1gb stick for 25 bucks that i should probably invest in for testing purposes

actually now that i think about it, if put the psu and the video card in another box that is running a c2d and ddr2 ram i would essentially be testing the allegedly faulty asrock board.

Is the circuit upstairs properly grounded? Do you have a UPS or surge suppressor?

as far as i know the circuit is properly grounded, yes i was using a surge protector i forget the joule rating but it wasnt a cheap walmart one. no i do not have a ups.
