Well, here is the beginning of this project. It's all spare parts from years of working on computers.

Components:
re-capped Shuttle FV25 mobo
512meg PC133
innards of an old emachines microATX PSU
ATI 9000 128meg VIVO
Toshiba SD-R2102 DVD/CDRW combo drive
empty PS/2 housing

Not shown:
Toshiba 40gig laptop HD

Yeah, it's not going to be a powerhouse, but like I said, it's all spare parts. :D

ill definatly be watching! I doubt its possible wiothout serious mods of the case though, but there :p go suprise me :) I just doubt it because ps2 cases are mighty small, i know, i considered doing this once upon a time :)

every time i see one of those things, i think theyre gigantic.

'course, thats compared to my slim one.... haha

cool mod!

I've come to grips with the fact that the back of the mobo is going to hang out of the case a bit. If it was a real mini-itx it might work, but the FV25 mobo is just too big.

Great Idea! My cousin crammed 2 slims into one of the old style monsters you've got, but this is better.

OK a little update:

I got all of the internal support sough cut out and I think I have everything laid out where it has to go. Here's the lower section with the mobo and PSU:

The PSU actually will hover over the mobo a little bit so I put it on standoffs and will just glue the standoffs to the lower tray with JB weld (sorry for the crappy pic, my camera sucks):

You should turn the mobo sideways and make the PSU external.

It's still too big. It could almost fit in the upper tray, but then then it would interfere with the CD-ROM drive.

I, too, considered this, but I would've gone miniITX due to size restraints... but it was just another fanciful idea I've had but not gone through with. :) Godspeed to you, though, I'll be watching this.
