Okay, this started a while back, i guess i was a little lazy to type it up... My computer was bought back in 2003... worked great back then, now? nope, this thing cant play games, not anymore atleast, i recently swapped motherboards, last night, the same thing keeps happening, it keeps freezing and screwing up, mainly i think it may be the resolution, like one time when i was changeing the resolution, the computer froze, some games launch but no picture, my graphix card works, i have a Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT... I don't know whats wrong with this thing... i changed my mobo. from a P4 Mainboard,Intel 2.4 Ghz Processor back to my old board.... Asus A7M266 a AMD 1800+ Athlon XP the same damn thing happened! it freezes sometimes, i swapped motherboards, it even did it on 2 totally differnt hdd's... a Seagate 40GB Barracuda... a Maxtor 20 GB... both 7200 RPMs... If anyone can help me on this stupid problem or needs more details, please help, i cant play games at all.. and im about to throw this thing out the window... thanks - Nvidia, Widcrodoft Incorporated.

Computer Gone to Hell? Possibly Come Back?

naybe its your processor...do some tests on it.
Three things I can think of, that might cause your problems:
1. Heat if you're getting too hot, it can cause all sorts of funky stuff to happen
2. Power supply try swapping out with another p/s, and see if you're still getting the same problems
3. Ram if you have one bad stick, out of 2 or 3, you can have some pretty serious problems
Like I said, try switching out your p/s with a second one, especially if you're running a cheap one (Powmax, for instance) in your system now. Had a buddy with a Powmax p/s, and he had problems similar to yours, until he swapped out for a good p/s. If you have more than one stick of ram, try running the system with one stick at a time, and see if you still have problems. You might try running memtest also. Then check the heat inside your case, and on your cpu (running it with a software heat monitor, like Speedfan or Motherboard Monitor, makes this easy).
