So my main comp is acting laggy, I figure I'll copy my tunes to my ipod and reformat. Right before I am about to I get the good ol' BSOD and windows won't boot back up.

So I reformat and try to reinstall windows. 1 It is taking forever to do everything and 2. Windows won't load after install. It's done this on two different hard drives.

What the heck could be wrong? Why won't reformatting fix this?

Please help and thanks in advance.

edit: OK I can boot into windows, my computer just takes about 20 minutes to get up and then Windows runs at normal speed.

Why the hell does it take so long to boot?

First off some hardware specks would be good and second I would strip it down to bare min and see if it boots any quicker. What I meen by bare min vid card HDD and one stick of memory. If that helps, I would add things untill you find out whats causeing your slow down.

reset the cmos
or atleast go into the bios and make sure your cpu is running at the specified speed
