hey all
first, heres my specs...
ABIT NF7-S v.2 mobo, latest BIOS and chipset drivers
barton 2500+
radeon 9800 pro 256mb, gone through drivers 3.10, 4.1, and 4.2
2x 256 sticks corsair value ram
western digitial SE 80gb hard drive
m-audio revo 7.1 soundcard, latest drivers
Windows XP professional, fully updated and patched
ok so about a few weeks ago my computer has randomly been freezing up. sometimes right when i would start up, other times 30 minutes into running windows. sometimes wiht no special apps running other than zone alarm or icq, sometimes in the middle of a game.
ive gone through many reformats of windows, sometimes it would freeze during the install of windows. sometimes when i would start up the screen would be weird, like blocks of random colours all over the screen, but it would still be visible enough to make out some text, sometime i would start up and the monitor wouldnt receive a signal at all. sometimes after this happens the BIOS would get reset. i would sometimes get this error after the computer would start up before loading into windows that said CMOS Checksum Error - Defaults loaded or CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck CPU Soft Menu
ive run some test on the memory and it seems to be fine, ive swapped out my video card with my friends ti4600, and his system with my vid card runs fine and mine will still freeze. ive run scandisk in the past and it checked out fine, however this time im getting this error that said (something like this, dont remember exactly) "Drive C: is NTFS, Drive C:is not accessable/cannot be opened"
the hottest my proc will get to is 47-50 degrees celcius.
im pretty clueless at this point, id really appriciate any help i could get on the matter, im going to a LAN tomorrow and would really like to have my rig up and running.
thanks
