Computer freezes when i play video

Hey guys need some help here i just bought a new video card. Gigabyte agp 6200 and have it hooked up to my tv through composite so i can watch movies off my computer. the video card works great in windows and plays UT 2004 just fine. the problem is when ever i try to play a video, be it a dvd or divx file the computer freezes on me. any thoughts? ive upgraded my motherboard bois. tired the latest nvidia drivers (77.77) and check for patches for the rest of my programs. I can say it doesnt work on vga or no hdtv resolutions, and it all worked before on my fx 5200. any thoughts, any one else had this problem? thanks a bunch.
