Hi all. I'm getting really sick of the desk that I have now. I'm looking for something new. It doesn't have to be specifically made for a computer, it just needs to be a nice desk. My desk right now is a corner (L-shaped) desk. I'm not really a fan, so much space is wasted behind the monitor. Suggestions / links to nice looking desks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Not to go against what you said but i think l-shaped are great desks IF you have a crt...my friend all he did was put a garbage pail behind his monitor to fill the space. Though if you have an LCD, now thats another story.

It depends heavily on your budget and some general preferences.

Do you want to spend $100 or $5000?
Do you prefer metal, wood (which type), or plastic?
Contemporary or traditional design cues?
Rough estimate on size?
How many monitors and computers do you plan to have on this desk?
Do you need a wiring manager or do you not care?
Are you going to be using this solely for the computer or do you need a writing surface?
Drawers or no drawers?
Wheels or no wheels?
How big/how many speakers do you plan to have? What type (bookshelf/pc/etc)?

Ask yourself all of those and post back so we can help you out.

jerker from ikea :) about $100 too if i remember right.
I have one of these and I wouldn't buy another... The quality is a piece of shit and I think it's over rated.

when i get a decent job im hooking it up with a big corner desk, with a built in server (into the desk itself), and probably get a 3007 or 2405 to sport in the center of my existing dual 17's (yea they will get ultra-dwarfed :D ). LCD's leave you with alot of rear space though, so unless you are pushing them back to the wall, might want to get a shallow desk to save money on deskspace per dollar

man, you guys are slacking! 5 posts and no reference to the 10k desk?! sheesh! what's the world (forum) coming to?!

I’m in the need of the new desk too, so I hope OP doesn’t mind if I use this thread.

L-shape
-under $600
-wood (no specification there… wood is all the same, right?)
-either one
-No more then 73” x 73”
-1 LCD, 24”WS
-don’t really care
-need a writing space
-preferably no drawers of any kind
-no wheels
-Z5500

You can find it in GenMay if you are a subscriber. ;)

Anyways, Does anyone know of a cable management solution that could be esaily added to an existing desk? Like those ring shaped wire tracks that they use in wiring/server rooms for cat5 management that could be bolted on or something, but not quite as big as they use.
