computer desk weight limit

The FT02 is designed to be on the floor and is also suited to carpet floor with its air intake filters. If it's valuable to you, put it where it can't fall down any further.
Why would you want to perch such a huge case on top of a flimsy tabletop, where air intake will be hotter than on the ground?
 
So you know for a fact that the tabletop I linked to is flimsy? That's what I'm trying to find out.
 
Well it's not made of solid wood, more likely chipboard, it looks rather thin too, but mostly, it's not a whole desk holding itself together, it is just a tabletop, so it is inherently flimsy since it's supposed to lie on trestles.
 
It isn't a strong piece of wood, but depending on the configuration you go with it should be fine for a computer. The weak part of a desk will be the middle, but lcd monitors aren't that heavy.

The wood is real cheap as its basically hollow in the center with only the edges filled where screws may need to go. If you place a PC on a side above a leg/support there should be no issue.
 
It's not a desktop case; With a tower as high and heavy as the FT02, it is a flimsy unstable setup and an accident waiting to happen, not just a flimsy tabletop. Just saying...
 
I would put it right over one of the legs just to be on the safe side. Most of the issues with strength would be the desk sagging in the center.
 
Exactly. The FT02 also isn't a super heavy case, its aluminum not steel. Also I have a similar desk top thats why I know how cheap the wood is, but it has a support leg in the middle. I wouldn't fear putting my FT01 over the side supports of the desk I got from ikea.

Here is an how I configured my desk with the mini shelves as legs. I did make modifications to make the mini shelve legs attach to the desk top. The standard ikea way just has rubber grips holding it together.

Just out of curiosity, can anyone recommend a desk or part of a desk that I can either order or pick up brick and mortar that's sturdier than the vika amon but just as spacious? Thanks.
