Computer cooling methodology (sort of work log)

I find it interesting that the common belief is that you must have your intake low on the front to get the best cooling. What i have found is this is really pretty backwards from the truth at least in my case. Lets think for a moment. Where is your heating ducts at in your house? Most houses have their heating ducts on the floor after all heat rises. Ok now wheres the computer in relation to the heating duct is it like mine as far away from the heating duct as possible or is it right by the heat duct? I wish i had thermal imaging equipment but i dont. But the hottest spot in a room is right by the heating duct thats a given and it fill the room from that spot. In my house heating ducts all come in from the out side walls middle ways along the wall. The heat bubble as it were starts at that spot and advances getting cooler as it goes. Coldest spots are along the walls with out heat ducts. This is where your computers back is most likely going to be and the front of the computer will be closer to the center of the room sucking in the relitivly warmer air in to your case. Again remember the bubble of heat i mentioned before it gets cooler as it expands in to the room. I have tested this some what the coolest point in my house is in the far upper corners from the heating duct best i can tell. So havening the intake up high on the computer and in the back results in lower temps over all. Now the best way to do this is to take in the cooler air from the back top duct that down internally in the case and exhaust out the top. You could do this with internal ducting but it would it be best to build a case with all this built in? Well i am going to do over the next few weeks design one with this in mind dont know if ill ever be able to built it my self do to material costs and time involved.
 
i will be doing this all in truespace to show it in 3d and if any one decides they want to try it ill provide them with the models.

Would be able to be pushed all the way back to the wall on a desk do to the areas that are shown as cut out on the back. This isnt 100% to scale. The cut out area should be deaper to allow cables to come out the side as intended with out to sharp a bend. The top cut out is to allow the psu and fans room for air flow while up againsts a wall. This is a very preliminary model that is going to get scraped and redone. Hardest part will be makeing the internal duct work. That will have to twist 90 deg so it can get by the cards. Obviously this will me that a motherboard drawer is a must. Im considering makeing the hard drives cd rom etc all come out in the drawer.

well every one knows fla is the backwards state :p
j/k i know some peoples houses are like this probly a large minority of new houses. But older homes and apts have floor ducts includeing central air. Still i think youd still find that along the walls is the coolest place when the heat is on. So it still applies just not as much.
 
in this view the red square part is the duct that will act as exaust for the psu.

Also note that this would be mounted on some form of slide to allow for diffrent models of psus that have diffrent fan locations.
You can also see in the render the psu inside and its mounted way up top with room for dual 80 mm fans. No need for a seperate duct the case will form this on its own. There would also be room for other 80 mm fans or larger in the normal spots by the io plate.
 
I live in an apartment in Co that looks like the designer was drunk when he planned the rooms layout. The heat ducts are along the western wall but so is the window. Because the room is alittle small the best I can do is have my PC there too, above the heater but close to the open window, suffice to say I have gotten use to sleeping in a VERY cold room since I sleep under the desk (I roll a nice mat out- not good for impressing chicks:( ) Currently I'm looking into water cooling since it can get rather hot here too.
