Somehow I've managed never to have actually assembled an entire computer myself, excluding of course re-assembly. Now that I'm planning to do just that, I was wondering about a few things that I've rarely seen talked about much.

1.) At what point during the assembly should the machine be powered up for the first time? This would be for things like POST check, etc.

2.) Little things like the case's power/reset and LED indicator cables are very small. In the interest of keeping things organized/clean, what would be the best way to sleeve them? Would a typical cable sleeve even fit?

3.) Are there any components that absolutely should NOT be installed before/after other components? For the most part sequence doesn't seem to be too significant but just to be safe...

When building and you want the first test, power supply, motheboard, video card and ram . You can then go to the BIOS.

A cable sleeve may actually make it harder to both see and manage them. I would use small wire ties (or velcro ties) and put then about a 1/2" or so from the leads.

Nope. When you first power up it does not matter.

electric tape adhseive goes messy, it'll be better with zip ties
