so you see the title, you get the idea of what im doing. I gutted the scope and now I have a crappy piece of sheet metal with mobo mounting holes drilled sheet metal screwed to the scope chassis. My other thought is I could take my old case (crappy free plain white box) and grind down the rivets, thus freeing the mobo tray and cut it to size to bolt up to my scope chassis. Good idea?
 
There are places that sells Lian Li motherboard trays. I think this would be your best bet as not only do you have the holes to mount the MB you also have the holes needed for the PCI slots as well as the Ext Connectors. You could always mod the tray as needed to get it to fit where you need it.
 
thanks guys, I knew this would catch someones attention. If I wasnt using the lian li mobo tray though, couldnt I save cash and use the one from my old case? also would you know where I can locate a psone lcd screen? Id love to put one where the scope screen was that is an awesome idea. I was thinking of putting a big fan there if I could find one that big but the LCD screen is kewl too because i want this to look kinda like its still a scope. all PCI cards and connections will be hidden inside so you plug it in and then button the case up. the original power focus knob will be power, the original red pilot light for power on will remain the power ON indicator, I may wire the binding posts as 12 and 5v outputs for bench testing simple circuits. CD burner will be external and get this, ive succesfully modded it into an apple IIE floppy disk drive case so it looks totally like the apple disk drive but its an external cd drive. possibly power it off the binding posts? hmmm... I will have to post pics of that drive setup, its sweet indeed.
 
I see, thank you thank you! but if I were saving money, would slicing a mobo tray out of my crapola case be a bad idea? I can always change it out later... Im concerned about airflow as well. Im running an el cheapo AMD 2200 on a machspeed venom V2DP mobo overclocked out to a 2500 on air, load temp in my old case was 110~111, and this puppy only has small vents in the sides, do you guys think I should open up the vents or drill a bunch of vent holes in the back or something? Also, my external CD drive mod currently uses a long IDE cable, how would I go about a simple USB adapter? externally supplied power may be good too, Maybe I need to take apart a busted external CD ROM and steal the interface?
