hey guys...im helping a friend of mine with a computer build but i am just stumped...any help is appreciated...i gotta figure this out before tomorrow afternoon...

anyways i had everything hooked up on the Asus P4P800 Deluxe mobo but when i turn the power on no display shows up(he has a 9600 pro)....this video card worked fine when i put it on my computer though...i tried putting my video card on his motherboard and still no display...also it doesn't seem to be loading BIOS...no beeps coming from the mobo either and there are USB devices hooked up...the mobo LED is on and the LED's on the geil golden dragon ram light up too...anyone have any idea what could be wrong? i tried switching PSU's too cause i thought that was a problem before but no luck...thanks in advance

Well, the first time I built my system with the same motherboard it would not power-up, post etc. I tried everything including eventually pushing the main power connector for the motherboard down quite firmly. After I did that it worked.

I actually should probably have exchanged the mb because this can happen any time I open the case if I'm not carefull.

Plug some speakers into the onboard audio and turn it on; the POST Reporter should tell you what's wrong.

Reasons the would cause a computer not to POST:
1) Video card is not inserted correctly, or is defective
2) RAM is not seated, is inserted incorrectly, or is defective
3) IDE cables are loose, backwards, or defective
4) CPU is not seated properly or is defective

hey i took your advice on the onboard audio and gave it a try....the POST Reporter claimed a CPU test failure...any tips to solve this or does this mean i have to RMA the processor? thanks in advance

The next step would be to remove the HSF and the processor. Examine the chip for anything unusual like bent pins, core chip, etc and reinstall. If it doesn't fire up after that you could try it in another comp or start the RMA process.
